HRR 2019 November Dine Out
Details Coming Soon!
HRR 2019 October Driving Tour
Our October 19, 2019 tour will take us from Tom Collins’ Loafers’ Glory to Shelbyville, Tennessee. We will be leaving Tom’s at 8:30 am sharp and arriving at Street Rods by Michael at 10:00. We will offer a morning venue, lunch and an afternoon venue.
Our morning visit will be at Street Rods by Michael in Shelbyville. Michael & his wife Rose have been in business for over 25 years and have built many award winning cars & trucks. They build everything from the frame up through painting. I don’t think that you will be disappointed as to Michael’s capabilities in building, designing and developing. Check out his website address http://www.srbymichael.com/ . They are located at 120 Deery Street, Shelbyville, TN.
After visiting Michael, we will have lunch at 12:00 noon at Legends of Shelbyville, located at 1609 N Main St, Shelbyville, TN 37160. They have a lot of space for us and offer a burger special ( any of their Burgers, no sides ) for $3.99. You might check out their website at http://legendssteakhouse.com/menu0911/Legends-Shelbyville-Menu.pdf . We will need an head count on the Monday, October 14 before the event, so please email Robertshadoin3@gmail.com or call 615.584.4848 so that we can add your name and number of folks to our list. We will confirm the headcount to the restaurant on the 19th, Saturday morning as we leave Loafer’s Glory.
After having a great lunch at Legends, we will travel to the late Garland King’s Private Collection arriving around 1:30 pm. His collection is now being managed by his son Gary King. Gary and his wife will discuss the collection with us and be our hosts. The extensive collection includes classic cars, metal toys, signs, photographs, receipts, pencils & hundreds of other items, making it perhaps the most complete collection of Bedford County history in existence. The museum is in an expansion mode with the purchase of the school behind the current museum. The new building will eventually house Garland King’s current collection as well as Gary King’s and Gary’s uncle’s collection, as well as the Fire Trucks in storage. There is no charge for this event.
Please don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and to wear you Honk Rattle and Roll Name Tags and apparel.
HRR 2019 September Dine Out
SUMMER HEAT IS OVER
Location: Sonic Drive in, 2630 South Church Street (Rt 231), Murfreesboro
Day/Time: Tuesday, starting at 6:00pm, but come a little early, if you can, to visit with other members.
Parking: 32 parking stalls and 8 tables. Start outside in the open area, then overflow to under the roof. There is additional parking next door at Wilson County Bank. Bring lawn chairs so we can increase the capacity by the tables for fun and frivolity.
SPECIAL DEAL: Being a Tuesday, all hamburgers are HALF price, thank you Sonic.
Honk, Rattle & Roll has dined at Sonic’s before, but this is the first time at this location. It was selected because it has been a LONG HOT SUMMER. We are there to have fun.
As usual, any type car is welcome, but if a sunny day, old ones leave a better impression of what HR&R is so we can attract new members.
HRR 2019 August Driving Tour
This creative Greg Faulk and Sally McKay tour is nicknamed our “Two-Stage” tour. Each stage is optional. You can do Stage One and/or Stage Two, it is your choice.
The first Stage is for the dedicated car fans; the famous “Cars and Coffee” held weekly in Franklin, TN. It starts at 8:00am and wraps up at 10:00am. There is no cost to visit or park; it is made up of people who love their classics, hot rods, sports cars, unusual rides, motorcycles, etc and bring them to show off or talk about them. It is basically a free car show that has been going on for years. Several of our club members are the organizers and would love to see other HR&R members come and visit. You can drive whatever you want, but being August, probably air conditioned and comfortable is the best choice. The location is the AMC Dine-In Thoroughbred 20 (Movie theater) at 633 Frazier Dr, Franklin, TN. Because our tour participants come from all over there are no written directions there, you are on your own to get there. Your GPS can get you there, or a traditional map. The event is held in the parking lot by the AMC entrance. You can arrive at any time, but get to the final leg of the tour by 10:30. We will be departing from the parking lot of the Kroger Grocery at 3054 Columbia Ave, Franklin, TN 37064. Since we have a time schedule for Stage Two departure and some may not know how to get from the AMC to the Kroger, Stage One directions below will get you there in less than 15 minutes, starting from the NW corner of the AMC lot, facing the McDonalds on Frazier. The Stage Two group will plan to arrive, also on their own, at the Kroger about 10:00 -10:15 to allow time for a restroom stop at Kroger and both groups will depart at 10:30 as Stage Two.
