Hello Honk Rattle & Roll Family.

First of all, thank you, Kathy Warlick, for all the great places you find for Dine Out Night. Tom Collins

On August 11,2026 we enjoyed our HRR family eating at DJ’s in Woodbury, Tennessee!

What a night!! We had 38 in attendance, celebrated Ms. Barbara Collins’ birthday along with some others that are celebrating too.

The Conversation, Food, Fellowship and Service was good. Let’s just say we closed them down! It was all absolutely heartwarming!

We missed those that couldn’t be with us!

We lifted in prayer those who are not feeling well and those that are grieving tremendous losses at this time.

Our sincere condolences to Pearl and Tom Vassar and their son, grandchildren and family upon the recent loss of their sweet daughter in law. Please keep them in your prayers in the difficult days ahead!

DJ’s staff did a wonderful job! Please feel free to share any feedback or suggestions you may have for future Dine Outs!

Extending a thank you to these folks:
Tom and Barb for all they do not only for the club, but for others, our church, and our community! You are greatly loved and appreciated!

Dan and Sue for providing the birthday cake Tuesday night!

Tom and Patty for assisting with serving and cutting the cake! Tom Washer is a great cake cutter!!

Driving Tour – Lebanon Doll Museum and Maple Motors – July 18, 2026

Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come out and cruise to the Doll museum in Lebanon. We had 25 attending and 7 Classics in line. A special thanks to those who came out without A/C! It was a nice drive through Lascassas to Rt 266 and through Lebanon. The Museum was definitely a labor of Love. Set on a beautiful five acres in a house built in the late 1870s, every room was filled with very ornately dressed dolls of all sizes. The Owner was very kind to let us look around and even provided some snacks.

Lunch was very good and service was great with lots of great conversation. I would highly recommend stopping into El Rancho Nuevo if you get the chance. The route to Maple Motors was an easy cruise through 109 and Lebanon Pike to Hendersonville. Unfortunately, I had to stop prior to arriving at Maple Motors to assist a broken-down classic minivan (Tom & Barbara Collins), so I can’t speak to what was on display there.  I can’t wait for the next opportunity to get together. I hope you will join us on the next adventure.
Thanks again Sue & Scott Zimpfer

I have said before it takes many to plan activities, thanks to all but special thanks to:
Scott & Sue Zimpfer
Russ & Pat Barnes
Janet Fulton
Barbara Collins
Mike Barrett
Dorthy Attermeyer (Doll Collection)

We also thank Pat Barnes, Pearl Vasser, Russ Barnes, Bruce Gibson, Alice Gibson, Arleen Timbs, Ronnie Barrett & Kiffin Albert with Saturday Club activities, hope I didn’t miss anyone. As you can tell, it takes a group of people to put on activities. We appreciate all the help at our activities!!

Driving Tour – Lotz House, Franklin – May 16, 2026

On 5/16/26, members of our HRR Car Club enjoyed visiting the Historic Lotz House in Franklin, TN. The house was built in 1855, by German immigrant Johann Albert Lotz. A master carpenter and piano maker, Lotz used the house to showcase his craftsmanship. The home features impressive woodwork, including a free-floating black walnut staircase, and a unique inverted piano leg as the newel post. The Battle of Franklin, in November 1864, ensued right outside their front door. The family survived the battle, but the Lotz House suffered some structural damage from cannon fire. The Lotz House served as a hospital for both sides after the battle, as is evident by bloodstains on the floors. While we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside the house, we took some nice ones outside. Our guides shared interesting details about the family and the battle. One family member became an internationally known painter, Matilda Lotz. One of our guides, Thomas Cartwright, especially liked seeing the antique cars some members drove!

Afterwards, we had a delicious lunch at Big Bad Breakfast. The food and service were terrific. They even had a background for photos. Thank you for joining us; I hope you had as much fun as I did.

Fondly, Alice Gibson

April Dine-Out – Bangkok Thai Restaurant – April 14, 2026

April 14th Honk Rattle & Roll Dined at Bangkok Thai Restaurant! The staff and ownership of this family-owned establishment is exceptional and food was delicious!

We had 34 in attendance, and it was delightful to have Janelee Wise join us as she is visiting from Florida.

A great turn out, and a blessing of fellowship with everyone not only to share car stories and family stories, and praises of God’s Goodness in our daily lives.

Thank you to everyone who supported in attendance and especially to Tom Collins and Barbara for keeping us all informed with news and reminders and Bruce Gibson for the website info and helping with the many IT issues that technology aggravates us with, from the membership database to any questions we might have!

Many thanks to these folks; Alice Gibson for being my backup when I am late or not available! Arleen Timbs for the beautiful photos, Pat Barnes for staying in charge of our club activities, being our treasurer and Dan Felciano for helping with the evening activities. Last but certainly not least Russ Barnes for always providing directions for our tours. We would be lost without Russ.

Thank you to all our members, there would not be Honk Rattle & Roll without you being an active member!

Thank you,
Kathy Warlick

Dine-Out – Toot’s, Smyrna – February 9, 2026

We were delighted to see so many of you at our February 9 dine-out at Toot’s in Smyrna. It was wonderful to spend time visiting with everyone and enjoying the great food. Our primary server, Savannah, along with her team, took excellent care of us throughout the evening. Thank you to all who came out and made it such an enjoyable event. We look forward to seeing you again on March 21 for our upcoming driving tour—more details to follow.

Alice Gibson

A special thank-you to the Honk, Rattle & Roll Board of Directors for hosting another successful evening, especially Kathy Warlick, Alice Gibson, Arlene Timbs, Bruce Gibson, Pat Barnes, and Russ Barnes. Well-planned HRR activities don’t just happen, and your efforts are truly appreciated. We were pleased to have 28 members in attendance.

Barbara and I regret that we were unable to join you, as we were out of town on vacation, but we heard the $7.00 hamburger with side was a big hit! If you have any suggestions or feedback, please feel free to call me.

Dine-Out – Mr. Brew’s Taphouse, Smyrna – January 13, 2026

HRR first Dine Out of the new year started out perfect! We gathered at Mr. Brew’s Taphouse in Smyrna for dinner on January 13.

Mindy Bell (owner) along with Hannah and Laney took very good care of us.
They hosted all 40 of us with a smile, good food, and good service! Just good ole southern hospitality!

This was the largest number for a  DineOut thst we have had in a while. Whether you had a glass of cider, a beer on tap, or a glass of water, we all shared a few laughs, and great fellowship with each other.

We are looking forward to the next one on February 10, so stay tuned and then come join us!!

Christmas Party – December 16, 2025

From platters of beautifully fried Chicken and smoked ham along with a 30 foot  table loaded with home-made pot-luck dishes, our annual Merry Christmas party and end-of-the-year business meeting was one of best ever!

Potluck dishes included a broccoli and cheese casserole, bacon-stuff eggs, mac & cheese, a fruit salad, and green bean casserole. Fabulous desserts included pecan pie, French silk pie, chocolate haystacks, and cinnamon roll cake. Everyone was filled to the brim.

Then Melanie Collins took over with two game, a Christmas Candy Match Game with prizes and a trivia quiz that gave all of us an education. Questions ranged from “who invented windshield wipers?” to “When was the first airbags installed?”  Also, Melanie led us in the singing of several Christmas songs that certainly made everyone merry!

Russ Barnes led the Business portion of the evening that included recognition of several Board members whose term ends with the new year; David Huskey,  Katina Barrett, and Tom Vasser. Each of these received a beautiful plaque in recognition of their valuable service to HH&R. Those beautiful plaques were personally made by our HR&R Board member, Jason McLaren. Thanks Jason! On a special note, Alice Gibson’s term as a tour director also ended, but Alice had so much fun in planning driving tours that she decided to re-up. Thank you Alice!

New Board members were then recognized and voted into office. These newbies included: Dan Felciano as a tour director, Pat Barnes as the new treasurer, and Alice Gibson as a veteran tour director. However, the Board position of President has yet to be filled. Bruce Gibson will be filling in as interim until a new President is elected.

Russ Barnes did call for anyone who has not turned in the HR&R survey to complete the request and turn those in to him asap.

Several important sidenotes:

Our club’s Christmas sponsorship of St. Paul’s “Coldest Night” initiative that targets homeless women was a huge success! Our great club members donated $519.24 to this worthy cause. Thanks for you awesome generosity. Not only money was donated, but also food products, gift cards, and even an arm full of coats.

The HR&R Board’s request for $5.00 donation per person to help with the ever increasing cost of everything Club related was a success. The club collected over $300 that will go a long way in paying for important costs, such as, club insurance, food, and planning expenses. Thanks for your understanding and help in this endeavor.

The door prize drawing using re-gifting was also a huge success. Everyone took home at least one treasure and many members took home multiple gifts!

There was a total of 56 club members and their families that attended this event. Our very special guests were Ken and Karen Ray who are celebrating their 70TH wedding anniversary. Congratulations!
